My city (London, Ontario) got its air show back this year after a 12 year hiatus. My office is out near the airport so we got to see the various planes arriving and doing practice runs at lunch time today. We had an F22 Raptor and an old P51 Mustang flying formation together over the office. Quite a sight. I loves me some airplanes and may try to get to the show on Sunday (weather forecast suggests they may get rained out tomorrow).

Any other airplane geeks on Lush? Any nice "aviation porn" to post?

I am not an airplane geek, but I live right near an RAAF base (which I believe is the oldest and longest serving military airfield in the world) and museum so we often get an amazing show. The centenary of military aviation air show was held here in 2014, and they had I think 50-60 aircrafts fly over the two days. It was absolutely incredible to witness - especially the vintage aircrafts. I don't know much but I do love watching The Roulettes.

I am actually inordinately fond of choppers, Chuck, so you have my envy.

That Cessna looks nice. A guy at work (in our equipment service department) built his own. Never offered me a ride, though. sad

Alas, I have terrible eyesight, poor coordination, and mild acrophobia so I long ago decided that it was probably wisest to be a passenger and spectator of aircraft rather than pilot.

As a kid, I loved to put together model airplanes and hang them from my ceiling with fishing line as if they were in flight.
I particularly loved WWIII planes and antique planes.

Here are some airplanes I like.

USA P-40 Warhawks/Flying Tigers

British Supermarine Spitfire

USA North American P-51 Mustang

USA Lockheed P-38 Lightning

Empire of Japan's Mitsubishi Zero

German Fockewulf 190

(Korean War) USA North American F-86 Sabre Jet

I've always wanted to take flying lessons and I'd love to own a float plane someday. And I love the look of the ones with radial engines.

The US fighter jet F-22 Raptor manufactured by Lockheed-Martin. The final assembly of these beasts is just outside Atlanta, GA, not far at all from where I live.

Have any of you ever flown in an open cockpit airplane? I have, and it is amazing.

Not yet. But it's on my bucket list to learn to fly... and I take my bucket list very seriously. ;D

These are my favorite planes...

The B-17 Flying Fortress, because of its remarkable WWII campaigns in Europe.

And the Boeing P-17 Stearman Bi-plane, because I've been up in one with an aerobatics pilot, who did rolls, loops, and several other tummy-dropping maneuvers!

Thanks for the video. I was a army pilot (9,000 hrs) in various helicopters. But always wanted a ride in a fighter. I own a Cessna 172.
