I've been wondering what timespan others wait between stories, etc. How often does your 'muse' me ve you?

I'll start ? lately I've been on a roll, but I feel a block approaching. Lately once every 2 weeks to a month. I know that's just a high wave I'm riding.

I have three famous stories, 2 recommended reads and have come in the top ten in two competitions~ Come in and make yourself at home.

Every now and then I will write a story. It is mainly waiting for inspirationsor dealing with feelings. For me I have a fantasy in my head but it is finding the right way to open the story that is the trouble. I will start off a sentence then other will pop in my head and I delete the original. Then writer's block makes me stop.

Me too. It seems like when I have what I think is a good idea, it turns into a story I that I don't want to finish. Waiting for inspiration can be frustrating because I always feel like I'm not going to get inspiration for another (good?) story. I have 3 half written in the edit screen and like 2 in my computar that I may never finish.

There are kind of two parts to this. The first is, I have limited time to write. My job takes a real toll on my mind and I often find it hard to switch between the mental state of writing reports and emails, to the more creative style of my prose. That leads to the second point.

Optimally, I'd like to post a story every three weeks to a month. I find it very difficult or impossible to keep up with those writers I respect enough to follow when thier stories are posted more often then that. It cause me to choose between writers, and all I can do is try to spread it out as evenly as I can. That is a choice I don't want to force my readers to make. My hope is, that readers will see a new story by Milik and be like, hey a new one! They won't think it special or important if it was my third one in the last ten days.

Other then that, if I tried to post more often, my quality would suffer. I spend a lot of time choosing individual words in stories, I spend time ensuring they flow easily and stay on point. These touches would suffer if I started hurrying through it just to get it published.

While I'll admit when I first joined it seemed like I was posting a lot... I had several stories already written and ready to post. Some that are in multiple parts were written all at one time, then broken up so I could keep the series going.

Like the awesome Milik, my job also limits my free time to read great stories and write my own. Sometimes I get lucky and I'll have a great idea and enough down time to knock out a draft. Other times it takes me days, weeks, or months to get the draft written. Really just depends. I've got a few in assorted stages of writings (as I'm sure many others here are as well.)

I'm not sure how long my worst writer's block was... I try to do other things to keep my mind off of it.

I post when I can. I would rather write a good, quality story, than produce a piece of shit that even the Mods wouldn't approve (as if their job isn't hard enough.)

I write when the ink splashes my face. Believe it or not, I have a business or two to take care of. Usually when writing, I knock out two or three poems at a time and put back in a file. My greatest deficit is punctuation and at times a case of writer block blues.

I am usually writing something. Even when suffering from writer's block I will throw words on the page, even if they suck and I end up deleting them all. Keep throwing words at the page until something sticks.

I haven't posted a Lush story since May of last year, but I am writing one now.

I usually have at least a half dozen stories in the pipe at any one time, in various stages of completion. I work on one or two as the mood hits me, then I tend to finish them all pretty close together and post them one after another. Then I go for a few months without posting anything. But my muses seem to have abandoned me lately.

I agree with the comments made...in the beginning I have several chapters written and they posted every week or two...now it takes me anywhere from 1-3 months to post a new chapter to my series...a full time job and family always take center stage before my hobby

I have never experience what might be called "writer's block." I am either writing, or I am not. If I am not, I am not usually frustrated by it and don't think of it as a block, as much as a time when I am not writing.

I submit a story every week, usually Friday so my readers can enjoy it over the weekend. As for my longest writer's block, I'm on it! Fortunately, I have a lot of stories already written and waiting to publish, so my readers won't miss out!

I came to Lush a couple of years ago because I was sexually frustrated and needed an outlet (which didn't involve cheating on my wife). At my most productive, I was submitting about two stories per month. I feel like since I've been here, I've worked out most of that frustration. The last story I published was a few months ago. I've got another that I'm slowly working on, but I don't have a huge drive to finish it.

Post-avant-retro-demelodicized-electro-yodel-core is my jam.

it was over a year between my last two submissions. i wrote a few things during that time, but nothing i wanted to submit. i didn't view that as a period of writer's block. what caused me to finally submit was being able to keep a promise i made to myself by entering the last comp.

like layla said, writing is something i'm doing or not. i felt a burst of creativity and scribbled a few things in the weeks after submitting my last piece. then life happened and i got wrapped up in that. i'll write more when the time comes.

Say. Her. Name.

I haven't finished and published a story since last year in August . . . since becoming an author for income (having started here as an author for free), that's the longest span of time for me.

A few unfinished short pieces I have written aren't publishable due to content. I've been in a dark, filthy mood I guess.

How often? 15 stories submitted in 3 1/2 years...which averages out to a little more than once every three months. That said, I tend to go long stretches without submitting anything--it's not writer's block, it's that life interferes.

I hadn't submitted anything at all this year before submitting "Blood Lust" ~10 days ago, and then in quick succession, Mike (OceanRunner) and I finished and I submitted "Losing It". So for those keeping track at home, nothing for over six months, and then two stories submitted and posted within a week of each other.

"Losing It" coming hard on the heels of "Blood Lust" was just a coincidence of timing--Mike and I had been kicking the story lackadaisically back and forth since probably March, and then I had two days in a row off, and we buckled down (tied up?) and finished the story out.

Like Methilda, I generally have several unfinished stories kicking around in my Google Drive. Most will be left to wither and die, or to wander off into the woods to be eaten by bears. It is what it is. For those on Lush who have the patience to actually schedule out time to sit down and write, I have great admiration--I'm more of the "Okay, so I have 73 minutes before the casserole is done, let's get this knocked out" sort of writer.

Hell, I'm not even a writer. I'm a mum and a nurse who just happens to be blessed with a filthy, dirty mind and some kind of skill (apparently) at writing what I know is, at the end of the day, just wank material. Literary porn.
