No, I cannot think of a similiar tale, but I understand.
Pay no attention, really. People are judegemental and often times a first impression like that from a picture is so silly. People want to put someone else down to make themselves feel better. I think that was just a thoughtless and off-handed remark, them being mean, or insensitive.

I had a professor who everyone loved and most were groupies who just worshipped the man. He looked like Gandalf the Grey and had as many Doctorate & Masters Degrees (and same ones) as The Oxford Professor/author of The Lord of the Rings, -J.R.R. Tolkien... & someone on campus called security thinking he was a HOBO. He loves to tell that story and with a scowl.

[not the best, but an example, you get the gist & yes, that is my friend and professor]

I am sure we all have stories that are much to our chagrin!!
