As authors we all sometimes struggle to title our stories at times and then at other times they come easily.

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

Also, what are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

My own 2 favorite story titles are In The Land Of Salvation And Sin and The Neapolitan. Both titles came to me as I was driving and listening to music and I built my story concepts based on that. The Neapolitan is probably my most overall successful story thus far, it has over 21,000 views and I received an EP Award for it. I just felt that they were my most creative story titles.

The story title that has generated the most views for me is, My Girlfriend Shoved a Vibrator Up My Ass. Several members actually hated that title. I had one person pm me and say that she wouldn't even read it because of the title. Right now it has more views than any other of my stories at over 42,000, and earned me the Famous Story Badge. Barely behind it in views is Revenge Sex Gangbang, which I think has been 'favorited' by more people than any of my other stories.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on your own story titles.

This is a great idea for a thread Buz!

My personal favorite story I've ever written will probably be a surprise because it's not one of my better know or acclaimed works: Kismet: The Christmas Elf. This is just a feel good Christmas Story I wrote when I had voting turned off. Sadly, this meant that only I my friends ever saw it. It remains one that brings a happy tear to my eye when I read it.
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/supernatural/kismet-the-christmas-elf.aspx

The next favorite was The Taking of Cassidy Lynn. This story is a reluctance storythat I'm really proud of and was awarded a Recomended Read:
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/reluctance/the-taking-of-cassidy-lynn.aspx

The most successful story and series was easily The Survivor. This story was awarded an EP and was included in the very first Lush Anthology. It's sequel; Myra's Song was also awarded an EP. I am now writing a third chapter. These sci if stories are so completely different from my other stories that I will probably revisit Myra from time to time for as long as I am able to write:
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/novels/the-survivor.aspx

A Slaves Fate is my second most acclaimed story. It a historical based BDSM story that takes place in Ancient Rome. It too was awarded an EP.

Ahh, I'm a newb, but what the hell, right?

I'd have to say that my very first story I got published on here has the most views, and that would be Shelby's Surprise ... It's got just a little over three thousand views, and it's a really short read. I was just actually really horny one night, and shot this puppy off, and it's an erotic little tale. People love it because it's quick, dirty and fun.
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/straight-sex/shelbys-surprise.aspx

The story with the most acclaim would be Bella Gets Painted, Part Two that has won me a Recommended Read. I'm currently still working on part three to complete the trilogy. It's gonna be spicy!
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/bdsm/bella-gets-painted-part-2.aspx

As far as my favorites, that's actually kind of hard.
I guess I'd have to say that Bathtime Delight was the most fun to write, as I started in one area and had to do that awkward transition to home and sexy. It was a mild collaboration between me and a fellow Lushie, and he was truly a great help. I love working with other authors, so that's another reason I like it.
http://www.lushstories.com/stories/masturbation/bathtime-delight.aspx

Her Reward is an easy favorite because it deals with the Daddy Doms, which hold a special place in my heart. It's also quietly dedicated to a Daddy that knows who he is, who's been an amazing support and help in my writing. Plus, who doesn't like a little anal treat every now and again! *cheeky grin*

The Devil's Undertones - one of my most popular. Earned the recommended read award. Everyone loves the Devil. Especially when he's a hot teacher. It's going to be a novella at some point.

Caught in the Net - One of my favorites though, because it initially posted with a glitch and had to be fixed which bumped it off the radar. The title has two meanings. One is a safety net which Syrah, the girl, doesn't use during her performances. It's also Net as in a surveillance sting. She's wrapped up with the law. Another novella spawn.

Love this idea for a thread, Buz!!

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

I like to use titles that are a bit different sometimes, although I'm never usually sure what the title will end up being right up until I submit the story to be verified.
My personal favourites are:

Achilles Pussy (or how I can never resist my urges)

I had been speaking with a friend ages ago about things and he said that if I were a guy, he would say I was led by my cock - it gave me the idea for a story about a woman who really is at the mercy of her pussy's urges. It was fun and dirty and my first attempt at a Hardcore story. I also think it's the best audio I've done, certainly, it was very fun to read it.

My second favourite is:

The Ice Queen Cometh (or how Roy and I got back on track)

It was just a bit of a play on words from "The Iceman Cometh," which is a play written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill. It made me think of a story about a woman who was referred to as an 'Ice Queen'. Initially, I was going to write it about a frigid woman, but when the Spice It Up competition was announced on Lush, I decided that I could use this idea and play with it a little.
I wrote about a couple whose relationship had become a bit stale, they hang out with a set of boring and judgmental friends. When one of the couples breaks up, the spurned girlfriend - who just happens to have the nickname Ice Queen, as she comes from Norway - ends up getting it on with Rowan, the main female character. It was really the first time I had written any girl on girl action and I have to say, it was really fun. (It never placed in the comp, but I was quite proud of the story nonetheless and it was well-received, which was encouraging and it still gets quite a lot of hits.)

Also, what are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

I actually have three which are my most popular.

Stanley Gets A Heart On

I had started working on this one a long time before I finished it. I had been discouraged a bit after sharing it with a friend who hadn't been impressed by it, so I abandoned it and it lay for ages until the Valentine's Competition was announced on Lush.
I remembered about the story then and figured I could maybe turn it into something good.

It's a love story essentially, all about cyber romance and putting the spark back in a marriage. There was a bit of a twist in the end, although not a very surprising one. I fell in love with the characters though and it got some lovely lovely feedback. I was delighted when it came third in the competition and was awarded with an Editor's choice award! (quite proud of that)

Punish Me

I wrote Punish Me as a way to explore a darker side. It became part of a series (still one final part to be written). It was my first reluctance story, about a girl who pretty much lets herself be degraded by a not very nice BF. The series shows how she starts as a pretty pathetic person, lacking in confidence or self worth and goes on to become sure of herself again.
I kind of hated writing it, but I enjoyed it too. I didn't think I would be able to record an audio, as it was pretty explicit and I wasn't sure that I could do it, but I did.
It's also my most viewed story to date and not so very far off reaching the required views to earn me a Famous Story badge!

Finally, I couldn't not mention this one:

The Client On The Sixth Floor

Initially co-written with an excellent Lush writer, as a one-off, the story took on a life of its own and is now at part 7b, with part 8 due sometime in the not too distant future, to complete the series. It's a love story about a high-class escort and her client, they go through some trials and tribulations, mistakes and misunderstandings, but with a light-hearted and humorous take which people seem to relate to.

Part 1 received an Editor's Choice award, of which I am very proud. Although the series does not have as many views and comments as some of my other stories, I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the feedback I've received. So many people have gotten in touch with me, saying how they related to the characters, wanting to know what would happen next, and that has been a constant, ever since the story was first published.
I've recorded audios for each part, although I must confess that the last two installments were not easy to read, given the subject matter.

(god, longest post EVER!!! Well done if you got through that!)

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

1. My first one would have to be “Confessions of a Housewife Whore”, I love the title. The story is brilliant, but I think the title just stands out so much. It kind of pulls you in, like damn, this sounds hot! It has to be interesting. So, that’s why I like that one.

2. My second choice would be “Gang Bang Barbie – New Year’s Addition”, I mean, come on? It’s wicked. I’m not one to stroke my own ego, but again the title just pulls you in. The story is defiantly worth the read. I’m quite pleased with it.

Both of these stories have done well, in my opinion. They’re at about ten thousand views each. I think that’s a good amount. I’d love for more people to read both of them. Maybe if I do them in audio? LOL

What are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

If I avoid the category we can’t talk about, because I think that category will always do well, it would have to be. (Even though I received a famous story because of said subject)

1. "I Want To Fuck My Neighbor." It’s a MILF story, and my first and only story in a male POV. It’s at about 22,431 views. I think the title helps, and I think MILF stories do well. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.

2. "Sucking Cock" is my second one, now it’s just a poem, but it has gotten so much attention, I’m shocked. It has over 4,000 views, for a poem! To me that is a big deal. I guess people like cock sucking on this site.

If I picked one that wasn't a poem, it would have to be my anal story. “Anal Virgin, But Not For Long”, it’s done extremely well. I’m happy with how it turned out. More so because I've never done anything anal, so it was a chance, and going by what I think would happen.

Do I really have to pick only 2? Mine are all so clever...actually

I'll pick 2 though...Carnival Knowledge is a story that takes place in an amusement park after hours...well, it takes place at the Flemington Fair, where I worked for a week when I was a teenager back in '78, and parts of it are true, but not much...the title actually comes from an old All In The Family Episode where Edith takes Archie to see the movie "Carnal Knowledge" and later, when he complains about the filth she took him to, she tells him she thought it read "Carnival Knowledge"...anyway, I thought it made a good title for the story...

And Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion is actually a variation on the lines from this song, in case anyone hasn't figured that one out...

The chorus of the song actually reads...

Young love, first love,
Filled with true devotion,
Young love, our love,
We share with deep emotion.

I'll have to say Sexual Healing by far and away holds the record as far as reader response...nothing else even comes remotely close...

It even inspired a forum thread at the time...don't laugh, it actually scared the heck out of me...

If I had to pick another story here, I'll pick Olivia's Ordeal...only because it's the most viewed...not quite a Famous Story, but only about 3k away...

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

Hmm... none of my story titles are too 'out there'. Considering the content my stories are knowing for, I actually tend to pick pretty lowkey titles.

One of my faves is Hard Candy. It started without a title and was really a work in progress that I wasn't totally sure I'd publish. I began it during a summer and then put it aside and then revisited it last January and it took off. I think I was just in that right niche headspace to write that particular tale. Halfway through the story, I knew it was going to be called Hard Candy. I didn't have any other front-runner options for titles. It's a bit more stylistic than my other stories and the title perfectly captured the play on the lollipop, the hard sex, and the way she related to the guy and that particular sexual experience. The ending pulls it all together and I think the title just fits beautifully. It's the first story I wrote where it wasn't just a matter of "hey, this could be called Hard Candy" - it really was Hard Candy. It's nice when it truly feels like it synchs up that way. It's been very popular too which is another happy bonus - 35,879 views at last check and it's been favourited 60 times and has an EP.

I think Fade to Black is also right up there as a favourite of mine. It has 46,434 views and it's been favourited 57 times. I had this title before I started the story. I wanted to convey the ambiguity that happens when a typical guy (Aidan Black) who loves female attention when he's being the dominant one, ends up having the tables turned on him as far as sexual control goes. I wanted to get into a bit of femdom and strap-on sex while still making it 'palatable' for guys that typically aren't into that kind of thing. The title just seemed to work and still kept it somewhat mysterious. It was a fun one to write and also entertaining for me because after publication, I had so many people asking me who the story was based on and was it about this guy or that guy. I even had a girl sign-up to Lush to ask me if this was about her BF who happened to share the same name and did I know him. lol. It was fun to watch some of the reactions. Because the main character is a male erotica author and he ends up with an online stalker, it was bound to hit a nerve with some and maybe get some assholes clenching in response. silly

What are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

The Cabo Connection has taken on a life of its own. It currently is at 121,452 views and sits on 159 individual favourited-story lists. It's been translated into spanish on the Historias site and now has a double EP (one here and one there). Honestly, I had no idea at the time I wrote this that it would become so popular. Compared to some of my other stories, I came up with the concept and plot line really quickly and wrote it much faster than a lot of my other stories. I think it's a fun read though and who doesn't love a bit of dirty scandal on a hot little beach vacation? smile

The Escort and the Dirty Substitute was written a few years ago and was really popular with views etc. It has 61,890 views and is has been favourited 65 times. I struggled a lot with this title. I was originally just going to go with 'The Escort' but it seemed too generic and overdone. Why is this one popular? I think it kind of taps into that female fantasy of being a sexual plaything for the wealthy and super-kinky. The character learns about herself and goes through her own kind of sexual exploration and awakening as she reluctantly lets herself be seduced by the 'glam' lifestyle and the easy money. This one was loosely inspired by a friend of mine in real life and some of her 'adventures' in the high-class escort world.

PS. Nice thread, Buz! I guess I decided to give Mazza a run for her money with long posts! Ha!

Yeah, well...sucking cock may be hot, but apparently it's still no match for incest around here...I believe I have the most viewed poem on the site...

And one of these days I'll do an audio for it...I did re-install Audacity since my computer crashed around the holidays...just haven't got in the mood to do audios again...

Still working on how many martinis it takes to get me in the mood to do audios again, but one of these days I'll figure it out...

Titles are tricky, and I'm not terribly good at them usually. The majority of mine are straightforwardly descriptive of the content - on the grounds that people like a story that "does what it says on the tin". So when you click on "Two Teen Lesbian Virgins and a Vibrator", you pretty much know what you're going to get. But there are a few others that are a bit more subtle, and these are probably my favourites.

To answer the actual questions:

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

"Pyramus and Thisbe" is one, named because the action reflects (very loosely) the action of the story in Ovid's "Metamorphoses" of the two lovers who communicate through a hole in a wall. Naturally, my two characters do more than just talk. I was well into the story/poem before the title came to me, and I just had to use it, even if not everyone would get the reference.

"I'm a Bit Tied Up This Afternoon" is probably next, because it's a silly pun on two meanings of "tied up". And I like silly puns. In this case, I think the title came quite early on, and the plot of the story was almost written round it.

Also, what are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

On the basis of story views, "Schoolgirl Dares With Sarah" is my most successful by a significant margin (46,447 and counting, with 50 people listing it as a favourite). Surprisingly, it is not an incest story, but it does have the almost equally enticing word "schoolgirl" in the title. Perhaps it is a bit of a tease too, because you don't know the nature of the dares until you read it.

Next would be "Open Air Sex with Daddy, Mummy and Brother" - a touch under 30,000 views (28 favourites). I don't think any further explanation is needed, other than to say that the title (like the story) was deliberately meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

22 February 2024 - How about a quick plug for one of my filthiest recent stories? It's all in the title - Naked Pool Party Swingers | Lush Stories Please read, comment and maybe give it a ❤️ - or even a⭐ if you really enjoy it! Thank you! Annie xxx

Titles are something I tend to struggle with. I typically save a piece under a working title. Sometimes as I am writing a better title comes along, and it gets renamed a couple have merely kept the working title.

What are your favorite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

Mourning Routine I loved this title. Its title refers to the both the time(morning), the feeling(mourning), the action(routine), and the repetitiveness of a stale relationship(routine). Sadly, this little tale has only garnered 16 votes. I found it interesting to write, a story that jumped up and begged to be told, and I am happy with the way it turned out. I knew when It was published that it wasn't the typical Lush story, as it has that touch of melancholy to it. But I enjoyed it anyway.

Still This title again had multiple references within the story. Its a guilty tale of masturbation with a lover in the bed beside the speaker. The speaker must remain still to keep from waking their lover who is sleeping after a hard day's work. The speaker would like to wake the lover, but knows that sleep is more important. Still, it is difficult. It is a use of the word as both the verb, and as the noun. It has been awarded a recommended read, but only received a few more votes then Mourning routine.

Also, what are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

My most viewed story, at 24,000 is Charge Nurse. This is one were the working title became the main title. Ive never found anything I liked better than this title, and I think it works because it keeps the focus on the nurse and her actions, as opposed to either the patient or the young girl who is also involved. It is the nurse's actions that drive the story and so rightly, the focus belongs to her. It has been awarded a recommended read.

My most acclaimed story, Dinner Date received an EP. It also is one that still has its working title. I wrote the story, then reworked it into its final appearance, struggling all along to find an appropriate title. I wanted one that would convey what I wanted to share, to reveal the duality within the story, the hurt and the joy. In the end the emphasis remained on the food.

It would seem the clever titles, the ones I like and am proudest of are not the ones that others like. Perhaps I have been over thinking my titles?

I have so little viewage and votes compared to everyone above but I'll put my little ones in.

What are your favourite 2 story titles of your own stories and why?

1. I have to say Curing a Whore , because it was a long but enjoyable process. It is so different from what I normally write about with it starting with a jokey conversation with a friend were I dared myself to write about this fetish topic, even though it freaks me out a little. I like that the male lead is not a someone you want to know, or even want to see in the cold light of day, let alone in a graveyard in the middle of the night.
It's become one of my favourites because of the mixture of fear and self discovery of the woman into her sexual needs from the thing she fears most. It also helps that it's got a RR and a high score for me (38).

2. A lot of my other stories have become my favourites but my first story, Tersoro's Special Welcome is a real favourite. It came at a time when I never thought I would get over my hang up and be able to put a story into words on paper. It's my only true story about a moment between my husband and me when he got back from traveling for work. It's by far not my best work but reflects a very happy memory.

Also, what are your 2 most successful story titles, either in acclaim or attracting views?

1. More Screams of Joy is the second part in my Screams of Joy four part series. It is my most viewed story with 7333 views and has 43 votes. The whole series went down really well but I think the mixture of the fun party atmosphere while being dominated up against a wall before anal bend over a table made the readers enjoy it.

2. Cumming Out. is my most popular story in votes (48) and has 4327 view at the moment, which is up there with my most popular stories. I love the storyline of a woman discovering her sexuality and experiencing women and toys for the first time behind a club with someone watching. Then going back to her boyfriend to tell him every detail. It wasn't my most enjoyable writing experiences but I'm happy with the finished product. It's also one of my more successful because it has a RR.

My top tip for choosing a title is: KEEP IT SHORT.

Most titles on fiction bestseller lists are three words or less.

My titles are mostly pretty utilitarian, I probably should try a bit harder! I like the title of the last thing I had published, 'Punk, Drunk, And Full Of Spunk' - it's a play on the phrase young, dumb, and full of cum. I also like 'The Mastur-Bot'.

Sadly, it's no longer on Lush, but my favorite title was Serious Moonlight. It was a pretty popular story too

Let's see. I'll say my second favorite title is: Two Kinds of People, because the title is the premise. That said, I 'm pretty fond of Fuckkitty too, because it's hot.

Tintinnabulation - first place (Free Spirit)
Comet Q - second place (Quick and Risqué Sex)
Amnesia - third place (Le Noir Erotique)

Favourite titles of my current lot?

That Night the City Burned (And So Did We) - apocalyptic punk s-f erotica

And maybe In The Water That Brings Life - Ancient Egyptian fantasy erotica

Both are evocative of what happens in the story.

Most successful? To be honest, I think category drives success more than title does, but my most successful story of my current incarnation is arguably Letting Loose, which is over 3800 views in six months. Heavenly Sinner and The Girl Who Knocked are not far behind, though, and with 3200 in 4 months, the former might be more successful if one calculates it per day or week or something. A Day In the Sex Life and Blossoming have a lot more views, but are also much older so that's spread out over more time.

My former stories are fading into history even in memory, but The French Guest is one that sticks with me as a favourite, both story and title.

Celebrating a couple of my older, less viewed stories:

Have you ever had love Rekindled?

The god came to her In the Waters That Bring Life.

‘The Dryad’. I really like the simplicity of this one as it’s a horror story.

‘The Resignation of Poppy Freeman’. Multiple meanings to ‘resignation’ throughout the story. Poppy Freeman was one of my favorite character names. The title was reminiscent in my mind to a few of my favorite stories.

Some titles are straightforward, some teasing, some meaningful. The one's I'm happiest with have a double meaning involved. "Laying The Record Straight" is a good example. I don't really have stories that could be called "Successful" by likes or reads. One that did give a giggle was The Night I Fucked My Brother -- a micro which had nothing to do with incest, pissing off some readers.
