I do not double space, never having been taught to do so, but there other things I do, like put in extra commas where they probably should not be.
In my freshman year in high school (mid 1980's, don't judge) I had a choice between taking World Geography or Typing. I chose typing. Standard typing teaches to double space after all end of sentence punctuation. And after colons and semi colons (I think). Single space after all others like commas and parentheses. I still do both, except when typing in a space limited area like Lush Black Boxes or Twitter.

Double-spacing is an archaic throw-back to the days of mechanical type-writers. Modern word-processors do actually give you a larger space after a full stop automatically which is closer to what would have been used in moveable-type printing than just hitting space twice.

For my papers and news stories I turn in, we have to double-space for readability purposes and editing. Otherwise, I single-space after a full stop.

My response: 5 spaces on the paragraph indentation even with the line space/skip to separate them. That's what I vaguely remember from nearly 50 years ago. Yes, I automatically do a double space after the period.
There is a difference between typescript and printing.
In monospaced typewriter fonts it is usual to use a double space. But we stopped using fixed width fonts for almost all purposes decades ago.
Double spaces are never used in proper typography. In fact HTML will compress all multiple spaces to one unless you use the entity.
