Im sorry, but the British version is un-fucking-touchable! Ok, series 5 and 6 were dog toffee, but 1 to 4 were awesome, truly awesome, i cant see any reason whatsoever why America needed to remake it, but i think censorship has something to do with, because, although ive not seen much of the USA version, its so diluted, all the drug taking and sex scenes are so limited and tame, its ridiculous. What is it with USA and censorship.....Somebody said to me that it was changed because the Americans "didnt get it", (same with Shameless) but i cant see whats not to get. If its not broken dont fix it, it was brilliant just as it was. If the Americans like their version then fine, whatever, but dont tar the British one with the same brush, its too good for that.

Yeah, fully agree. William H Macey may be a good actor. But his version can't hold a flame. I've watched every episode ever released and yes the newer stuff isn't quite there. But as someone said to me, a bad episode of shameless is still a lot better than a good episode of most other stuff. Have you been watching the new series, its magic. And funny that, America has a fantastic porn industry, yet very strict censorship laws, don't figure. Anyway thanks for posting, take care.

I think when America takes our shows they end up completely different, our humour is so different that it just doesn't flow right if they try and copy everything exact. From what I've seen of the us version of shameless, it is nowhere near how good ours is, I think the same goes for the inbetweeners and other shows too.

I have seen both versions, the British version could be written about any council estate in the U.K.
For my American friends which are many a council estate is social housing rented not owned and can consist of flats and houses. As for the American version they tried using the same story's and plot lines which just wont work fully in an American environment. Please copy the idea by all means but re write it for the real American audience what they see is just confusing to there lifestyle.
