If Santorum were to somehow get the GOP nomination for president he'd get trounced in the general election. There are a large number of Republicans who absolutely would not vote for him, instead voting independent. The more moderate end of the party finds Santorum and his extreme views completely unpalatable. Of course then we might steal those votes for The Libertarian Party.

Unfortunately the extremist seem to have most of the power in both Republican and Democrat Parties which is why we get so much gross government wasteful overspending. Moderates tend to support fiscal responsibility in spending while allowing for social progress. Extremist right and left want to fund radical and stupid projects and fill the pockets of the lobbyist that own them.

We have had to fend off internet censorship coming from both left and right lately.

I am sure had he been there, Santorum would have praised the hangings at the Salem Witch Trials!

Seriously, its so ironic you cant even make it up!

That definaition brought to us from dan savage of savagelove, the sexual advice scribe who had a contest to name said fluid and in an overwheming vote by his readers the ex-senator was deemed worthy of the moniker. Mr. Savage had the former senator in his radar long before his bid for the white house, before the good voters of the conservative state of Penn. voted him out of office in a fit of sanity. I dont think there has ever been a prez formerly voted out of the senate before and certainly that trend will not be broken. Santorum is such a tool.

Never quite understand why we need leaders especially a politician the word I feel being synonymous with charlatan. Saw an old movie with Barbara Stanwick and Fred MacMurray and one characters says about MacMurray's character,. "he's a very honest and personable young man if he wasn't so honest He'd have a great future in politics. " It was a 1940's movie.

It is like this all over the world...
Politicians and diapers should be changed frequently and all for the same reason. ~José Maria de Eça de Queiroz, translated from Portuguese

Seriously, the only reason the USA got to where it is is that the first 5 presidents actually believe in what they were trying to establish.
GW kept trying to turn down more power. How many leaders can do that (think Russia, Syria, Libya, ...)
JA and TJ were on opposite sides but fighting and believing in the same outcome.

Now we have idiots getting elected. If you voted for them, you are partially responsible.
The big problem is that a good portion of the voters have no idea who they should vote for or why!
They don't know the facts or the history. All they hear are the sound bites and they decide from there! Very sad.
