I think text speak was more common before the smart phone when you had to use the number pad and hit the number several times to get the letter you wanted. At least I remember texting in that fashion when I had the old razor. It just took forever to type anything out. After getting a smart phone typing has become easy and I almost type as fast using one as I do on a keyboard. Plus the smart phones recognize the longer words and fill them out when you hit the space bar. So in a way when you send a person a thought or two in the middle of the day it can seem like poetry. I typed this all out on my phone right now. It took about two minutes or so.

Let me tell you something Felix...text speak is very alive and well, and rather unfortunately it is finding its way into "poems" at an alarming rate...
It seems to be extremely popular among younger "poets" and I use that term loosely, from India...for some reason or another...
They seem to find it quite acceptable...much to the chagrin to the rest of us I might add...
