He was born with wings
but they were clipped by scorn.
He used them well and with finesse
just like his bow which flew across chords.
The jealous and weak
keep spirits from flying high.
Teach, your children well,
less they fall prey to vengeful eyes.
Unable to come out,
to spread their wings in the light.
They will fly no more,
and walk in eternal night.
Don't ask, don't tell.
What is the gruesome truth?
Ignorance and confusion the poison,
killing the beauty of youth's.
Icarus fell flying too close to the sun,
and now others are falling at alarming rate.
Without our wings we are all confined,
and our freedoms left to uncivil debate.
Flightless birds unwilling to look up,
not wanting to see what they can't achieve.
Soaring hearts unable to see through the fog,
leaving with self doubt, and families to grieve.
