Where does it stop ?Bloombergs'latest campaign is to now limit the supply of baby formula keeping hospital supplies of formula locked up.If a can of formula is released a medical citation is placed in the file.Whose business is this?Next move will be prosececution for breast feeding

NY judge throws out sugary drink ban


In his ruling, Tingling also criticized Bloomberg's decision to implement the ban without a vote of the New York City Council. The regulation has been passed into law by a decree issued last September by the city's Health Department. Bloomberg's office had defended the regulation by arguing the mayor has a broad mandate to protect and improve the health of New York City residents.

But Tingling was skeptical of that defense, writing that "interpretation" of the law would give it the "authority to define, create, mandate and enforce (laws) limited only by its imagination." The regulation, the justice wrote, "would create an administrative Leviathan and violate the separation of powers doctrine... It would eviscerate it."

Tingling added: "Such an evisceration has the potential to be more troubling than sugar-sweetened beverages."

The sugary drink lie.
Its not sugar, its high fructose corn syrup, they use it cuz it tastes very sweet and its very cheap. When you drink that most of it goes directly to fat and its the hardest kind of fat there is to try to burn off.

They are BSing you again, all they have to do is use cane or beet sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup and there would not be near as many problems.

As a matter of interest, I saw this on FB this evening and it made me think of this thread (the search function works really well by the way)

Anyway, rather than arguing about the size and legality of servings of soda, perhaps we should think about not consuming the soda in the first place?

Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I’ve never seen it written like this before. and REMEMBER if you "SHARE" this post it will SAVE on your personal page so you can refer to it later.

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 30%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.


1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

At the animal shelter,it is used coke to remove calcium deposits from the water pans about ever 6 months.

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?

Anyway, it is worth looking at the symptoms of dehydration because it is a big problem... The body cries out for water in many ways.

It's easy to dismiss, but I bet most of you can resonate with some of these...

Symptoms may include headaches[9] similar to what is experienced during a hangover, decreased blood pressure (hypotension), and dizziness or fainting when standing up due to orthostatic hypotension. Untreated dehydration generally results in delirium, unconsciousness, swelling of the tongue and, in extreme cases, death.

Dehydration symptoms generally become noticeable after 2% of one's normal water volume has been lost. Initially, one experiences thirst and discomfort, possibly along with loss of appetite and dry skin. This can be followed by constipation. Athletes may suffer a loss of performance of up to 30%[10] and experience flushing, low endurance, rapid heart rates, elevated body temperatures, and rapid onset of fatigue.

Symptoms of mild dehydration include thirst, decreased urine volume, abnormally dark urine, unexplained tiredness, irritability, lack of tears when crying, headache, dry mouth, dizziness when standing due to orthostatic hypotension, and in some cases insomnia. Other possible symptoms include cloudy urine and stinging during urination. Blood tests may show hyperalbuminemia. Mild dehydration also has been shown to negatively impact people’s moods. Experiments by the USDA's Agricultural Research Service have shown that dehydration is associated with confusion, fatigue, and negative moods.[11] Mild dehydration, which includes water losses between 1% and 2%, observed in the experiment are comparable to mild dehydration experienced by people in their everyday lives.

In moderate to severe dehydration, there may be no urine output at all. Other symptoms in these states include lethargy or extreme sleepiness, seizures, sunken fontanel (soft spot) in infants, fainting, and sunken eyes.

The symptoms become increasingly severe with greater water loss. One's heart and respiration rates begin to increase to compensate for decreased plasma volume and blood pressure, while body temperature may rise because of decreased sweating. At around 5% to 6% water loss, one may become groggy or sleepy, experience headaches or nausea, and may feel tingling in one's limbs (paresthesia). With 10% to 15% fluid loss, muscles may become spastic, skin may shrivel and wrinkle (decreased skin turgor), vision may dim, urination will be greatly reduced and may become painful, and delirium may begin. Losses greater than 15% are usually fatal.

In people over age 50, the body’s thirst sensation diminishes and continues diminishing with age. Many senior citizens suffer symptoms of dehydration. Dehydration along with hyperthermia results in the elderly dying suddenly during extreme hot weather.

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract can lead to dehydration in various ways. Often, dehydration becomes the major problem in an otherwise self-limited illness. Fluid loss may even be severe enough to become life-threatening.

In studies of terminally ill patients who have chosen to die, it has been shown that deaths by terminal dehydration are generally peaceful, and are not associated with suffering when supplemented with adequate pain medication.[12][13]

Effects of dehydration
Dehydration inhibits the effectiveness of one’s lymphatic system and allows cellular waste products to linger and create further havoc.

Research has found dehydration to have a negative affect on one’s brain and can contribute to the development of depression. The brain consumes vast amounts of glucose that is delivered via the blood supply.

Dehydration affects the amount of overall blood volume that in return affects the brain.

Mild to moderate dehydration can also cause headaches, diminish memory and impair one’s ability to think clearly. Proper hydration is essential for nerve function throughout the body.

Nerves are sensitive and the body places a high priority to their health and maintenance. Once a nerve dies, there is no re-growth within the central nervous system.

Micro streams exist along the length of the nerves and transport nutrients along microtubules to where the messages are being transmitted. Dehydration can disrupt these messages, often resulting in the sensation of pain, fatigue, low energy, loss of muscle strength and poor endurance.

Histamine is a neurotransmitter that plays a significant role in encouraging water intake during periods of dehydration. Elevated levels of histamine can also impact and contribute to asthma, depression and chronic pain.

These conditions are often treated with anti-histamines and painkillers that essentially turn off signals of thirst.

Water makes up about 60% of one’s body weight. Obesity has been shown to decrease the percentage of water in the body, sometimes to as low as 45%.

Chronic inflammation and dehydration can alter one’s metabolism and promotes weight gain. Weight gain is one of the leading causes of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

The brain and kidneys regulate the amount of water excreted by the body. When the blood volume is low through dehydration, the brain responds by stimulating a hormone that signals the kidneys to reabsorb and recirculate water.

When the overall blood volume falls so does one’s blood pressure. Low blood pressure is a leading cause of dizziness and feeling like you may faint when you stand up. A rapid heart rate is also a sign of dehydration.

The heart rate increases in attempts to maintain and elevate blood pressure. Excessive stress and strain on the heart can contribute to heart attacks and failure.

Cancer cells are produced normally in the body from birth to death. These mutated cells float around in the blood and can develop into tumours and masses.

Cancer cells are flagged rejects by one’s immune system and they are marked for destruction. Dehydration reduces the overall volume of blood and lymphatic fluids that are integral in a healthy immune system response.

Dehydration and inflammation causes further impairment of one’s immune system and can contribute to what’s called autoimmune diseases. If you have an autoimmune disease, a person’s own immune system attacks healthy cells by mistake.

There are more than 80 types of autoimmune diseases and many share the symptoms of dehydration. Often, the first symptoms of an autoimmune disorder are fatigue, muscle aches and a low fever – all signs of underlying inflammation.
Hunger is a major side effect of dehydration.


So, before you pick up that Coke, think about having a glass of water instead...

I noticed some earlier posts that said bring back Physical Ed in schools. In Australia, it was never taken out. But surely it is up to parents to ensure their children have enough exercise. I always get annoyed when the solution to a problem is to add it to the school curriculum..an already crowded curriculum in Australia.
That having been said, most Australian primary schools have Daily Fitness, Sport and other outside activities which need to add up to at least two hours a week.
